Dear Sock Lover,

In 1980, Italian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass gathered some of his contemporaries to discuss their frustrations with designing in the modernist era. Restrained lines and limited choices in color were restricting their creative expression. They listened to Bob Dylan's "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again" on repeat, came up with a plan to get inspired again, and The Memphis Group was born. This collective of designers is considered responsible for the wild exuberance in 1980s design. Of course, as a sock company who hopes to bring wild energy to your ankles, we admire their dedication to thinking outside the box and pushing creativity. We hope your May 2018 sock, The Memphis, encourages you to break the mold and show off your originality.
