The Tartan
The Tartan is named after the pattern on the heavy traveling cloaks worn by the Scottish to protect them from winter. Because different weavers had different regionally dyes, these patterns came to be known as unique identifiers of regional Scottish clans, and are still a large part of the Scottish tradition.
